JAVEA Costa Blanca

Javea sits at the most Easterly point on mainland Spain. A medieval town with a Roman and Moorish history it can be divided into 3 distinct areas. There’s the old town of narrow cobbled streets, 16th Century church and whitewashed houses, the port area and then there are the beaches.

Javea is justly proud that its climate is rated ‘environmentally near perfect’ by the World Health Organisation.

Locally there is horse riding, golf, tennis, go-karting, jet ski, windsurfing, scuba diving, other watersports and designated nature walks.

There is a covered market in the old town and a Thursday outdoor market where you can shop for anything from cheese to chorizo, from lace to leatherwork. The picturesque fishing harbour is a working port. Stroll along and watch the days catch being brought in before dinner. The modern yacht club is also situated here.

Evenings are lively along the promenade at Arenal Beach where there are a score of bars and restaurants and dozens of craft stalls as well as exclusive boutiques. The beach has lifeguards and showers and there are safe separate play areas for children of various age groups.

There are worthwhile day trips to Valencia (just an hour away), to the fortress village of Guadel’est or even take the ferry to Ibiza. Closer to Javea visit Gata for cane and ceramics. Near Benidorm there are a number of attractions including the Terra Mitica theme park which is an excellent day for the young or young at heart, the Mundomar marine & exotic animal park or Aqualandia water park for the energetic.
